Apple’s Next iPhone Won’t Look Anything Like The iPhone 4S According To This Component

This component looks nothing like anything we’ve ever seen in a previous iPhone.

An “iPhone 5’ SIM tray that was leaked by one parts supplier earlier this month suggested Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone may not get that long-awaited redesign after all, launching instead with a look that resembles its last two predecessors, the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S.

However, a new headphone jack & earpiece component that has been leaked by the same supplier contradicts that belief, and indicates that the new iPhone will indeed sport a whole new look.

At least that can be said for its insides, which will be vastly different, according to this piece — which combines the iPhone’s headphone jack, earpiece, and Wi-Fi cable.

On the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S, the headphone jack is coupled with the volume controls and mute switch. But as you can see from this component, it has been matched up with the earpiece speaker and Wi-Fi cables.

Of course, this component isn’t going to tell us much about what the iPhone 5 will look like, but it does tell us one thing: That the new device will be different to its predecessors. If the new device was going to maintain a similar design — as we had feared earlier this month — it’s unlikely its internals would change so significantly.

This is not the second “iPhone 5’ component we’ve seen prior to the device’s unveiling, and we’re expecting a whole lot more to surface over the course of the next few weeks.
